Trip Itinerary Overview
We travel together from Buenos Aires to Rio de Janeiro, experiencing the heart of Argentina and Brazil as a small LGBTQ+ group. From shared meals and city moments to standing in awe at Iguazu Falls, this journey is about connection as much as destination.
Along the way, we slow down on Brazil’s coast, explore colonial towns, embrace island life on Ilha Grande, and come together for Pride Adventures welcome and farewell dinners. We experience culture, nature, and iconic sights as a group, creating memories that feel shared, intentional, and deeply meaningful.
Days 1 to 2: Buenos Aires, Argentina
Our journey begins in Buenos Aires, a city known for its European architecture, vibrant neighborhoods, and rich cultural life. As travelers arrive, there is time to settle in, explore nearby cafés, or take a first walk through the city at your own pace.
We officially come together as a group for our Pride Adventures Welcome Dinner, a relaxed and social evening where we meet one another, share our first meal together, and set the tone for the adventure ahead.
With flexible time built in, Buenos Aires invites exploration. Just a short distance from our hotel are some of the city’s most iconic sights, including the grand Teatro Colón, one of the world’s great opera houses, nearby green spaces like Recoleta and Palermo parks, and historic neighborhoods filled with elegant former mansions that now house museums, galleries, and cultural institutions.
Optional pre nights are strongly recommended for those who want more time in Buenos Aires before the itinerary begins. Kevin will arrive early and be available to connect with travelers who choose to arrive ahead of the group, with informal planning and coordination taking place closer to the trip.
Highlights: Pride Adventures Welcome Dinner, Teatro Colón, historic neighborhoods, flexible exploration
Stay: Carsson Hotel, Buenos Aires (or similar)
Transport: Arrival at Buenos Aires international airport with independent transfers
Meals: Welcome Dinner on arrival day and daily breakfast

Days 3 to 4: Iguazu Falls, Argentina and Brazil
Wild Waterfalls and Shared Wonder
We travel north to one of South America’s most awe inspiring natural landscapes, arriving at Iguazu Falls, where more than 270 waterfalls stretch across the border between Argentina and Brazil. Surrounded by lush rainforest, the scale and energy of Iguazu is something that truly has to be experienced in person.
Over two days, we explore the falls from both countries, each offering a completely different perspective. On the Argentine side, elevated walkways and trails bring us out over the river and right to the edge of the cascades, including the unforgettable Devil’s Throat. On the Brazilian side, we take in sweeping panoramic views that reveal the full width and power of the falls, with mist rising into the air and rainbows often appearing in the spray.
One of the most memorable optional experiences here is the high speed boat adventure. For those who choose to join, we ride in a four wheel drive vehicle down to the river before boarding a powerful boat that races through the canyon. The experience brings us face to face with the falls, including moments where the boat moves directly into the mist and rushing water. It is exhilarating, joyful, and for many travelers, a true highlight of the entire journey.
We also take part in a meaningful visit with a G Adventures supported Guaraní community in the surrounding rainforest. Guided by local community members, we learn about traditional knowledge, sustainable practices, and the deep connection between culture and environment, adding important context to the landscape we are exploring.
Evenings are relaxed and social, with time to enjoy meals together and reflect on the day’s experiences as a group.
Highlights: Iguazu Falls from Argentina and Brazil, Devil’s Throat, Guaraní community experience, optional high speed boat adventure
Stay: Hotel Del Rey, Foz do Iguaçu (or similar)
Transport: Flight Buenos Aires to Puerto Iguazú followed by private ground transfers and border crossings between Argentina and Brazil
Meals: Daily breakfast included

Days 5 to 6: Paraty, Brazil
Colonial Charm and Coastal Ease
After the power and scale of Iguazu Falls, we slow our pace and travel to Brazil’s coast, arriving in the beautifully preserved colonial town of Paraty. Founded in the 1600s, Paraty once played a central role in Brazil’s gold trade, serving as a key port where wealth from the interior was shipped to Europe. Today, its history lives on through cobblestone streets, whitewashed buildings, and a town center carefully protected as a UNESCO recognized heritage site.
Our journey takes us through São Paulo and onward by road, arriving with time to settle in and begin exploring together. The historic center is closed to vehicles, creating a calm atmosphere that invites wandering, conversation, and unhurried discovery.
We enjoy a full day in Paraty with flexibility built in. As a group, we may share meals, stroll the waterfront, or relax in town. Optional activities are available for those who want to explore further, including boat trips into the bay, nearby islands and beaches, or visits to local cachaça distilleries. Others may simply enjoy the slower rhythm and soak in the setting.
Paraty offers a natural pause in our journey. It’s a place to connect with one another, appreciate Brazil’s layered history, and recharge before heading into island life.
Highlights: Paraty historic center, colonial architecture, coastal scenery, flexible exploration
Stay: Pousada Laguna Blue, Paraty (or similar)
Transport: Flight Foz do Iguaçu to São Paulo followed by shared van to Paraty
Meals: Daily breakfast included

Days 7 to 8: Ilha Grande, Brazil
Island Time, Nature, and a Slower Rhythm
After Paraty, our journey becomes part of the adventure. We travel by bus along Brazil’s lush Costa Verde before boarding a speedboat water taxi that carries us across the bay to Ilha Grande, often called the Big Island. As the mainland fades away and the island comes into view, it’s clear we’re heading somewhere very different. This is where we leave roads behind and fully step into island life. Be ready for an experience.
Ilha Grande is a car free island, shaped by rainforest, beaches, and footpaths rather than streets. Upon arrival, we walk along dirt paths through the village to reach our pousada, fully immersed in the natural rhythm of the island. Accommodations here are simple, comfortable, and intentionally rustic, offering an authentic island stay rather than a traditional hotel experience.
Our time on the island is about slowing down together. Days are open for swimming, relaxing on the beach, exploring the village, or enjoying the surrounding nature. One optional group experience is a jungle hike to the historic stone aqueduct, built in the late 1800s to supply fresh water during the island’s former penal colony era. The walk winds through dense rainforest and offers a fascinating contrast between the island’s past and its peaceful present.
A true highlight of our stay is the Pride Adventures included boat experience. We head out on the water as a group, cruising along the coastline and stopping in calm bays to swim and relax. It’s one of those shared moments that brings everyone together and captures the spirit of traveling with Pride.
Evenings on Ilha Grande are relaxed and social. Optional dinners often take place right on the beach, featuring fresh seafood, lobster, and local specialties. The small village is filled with charming shops and casual spots to gather, making it easy to unwind and connect as the day winds down.
Ilha Grande is intentionally the most rustic part of the journey. It’s quieter, more grounded, and deeply immersive, offering space to disconnect, recharge, and fully appreciate the experience we’re sharing together.
Highlights: Island village life, Pride Adventures boat experience, rainforest trails, historic aqueduct hike, beachside evenings
Stay: Pousada Mata Nativa, Ilha Grande (or similar)
Transport: Shared bus from Paraty followed by speedboat water taxi to Ilha Grande
Meals: Daily breakfast included

Day 8: Rio de Janeiro
An Iconic and Meaningful Finale
After our time on Ilha Grande, we return to the mainland and travel to Rio de Janeiro, one of the most visually striking cities in the world. As we round the coastline and the city comes into view, it is a dramatic and unforgettable arrival.
Upon check in, there is time to freshen up before heading out to experience Rio together. Many travelers choose to join an optional Rio city tour, which may include visits to Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf Mountain, offering sweeping views of the beaches, mountains, and vibrant city below.
In the evening, we gather for our Pride Adventures Farewell Dinner. It is a special moment to reflect on the journey, celebrate the connections we have made, and close out our time together in Argentina and Brazil.
Overnight in Rio de Janeiro.
Highlights: Arrival in Rio, optional city tour, Christ the Redeemer, Sugarloaf Mountain, Pride Adventures Farewell Dinner
Stay: Royalty Rio Hotel or similar
Meals: Breakfast and Farewell Dinner included

Day 9: Departure Day or Optional Post Trip Extension
Today is a departure day for those heading home. Airport transfers can be arranged at any time, though we recommend flights departing after 10:00 a.m. to allow time for breakfast and a relaxed morning.
For those who choose to extend their stay, Rio de Janeiro offers endless opportunities to explore more deeply. Spend time on Ipanema Beach, visit the Botanical Garden, explore local neighborhoods, enjoy the city’s vibrant food scene, or discover LGBTQ+ friendly spaces throughout the city.
Kevin will be available to assist with post trip coordination and shared plans for anyone extending their time in Rio.
Meals: Breakfast included
