Hi! I’m Chris, Chief Adventure Officer at Pride Adventures. I’ve been leading group trips for 25 years, starting in Arizona before founding California Gay Adventures in 2017 and Pride Adventures more recently. I’m passionate about building community through travel and outdoor experiences. Highlights include Southeast Asia with 23 guys in 2023 and a recent safari adventure through five African countries. Trip Itinerary:
Experience the vibrant culture, history, and traditions of Dia de Los Muertos on this unforgettable journey through Oaxaca, Puebla, and Mexico City. This eight-day adventure combines rich cultural experiences, delicious cuisine, and iconic landmarks for an immersive exploration of Central Mexico.
Day 1-3: Oaxaca
- Arrival and Welcome Dinner to meet fellow travelers
- Guided tour of Monte Albán, Oaxaca’s ancient archaeological site
- Cycling excursion to Hierve el Agua’s petrified waterfalls and a mezcal tasting at a local agave farm
- Accommodation: Parador San Miguel (or similar)
Day 4: Puebla
- Travel to Puebla, with an orientation walk of its historic center
- Visit a talavera pottery workshop and participate in a mole-making demonstration
- Accommodation: Casona de la China Poblana (or similar)
Day 5-8: Mexico City
- Explore Xochimilco’s colorful canals and visit Frida Kahlo’s Casa Azul
- Optional hot air balloon ride over the ancient pyramids of Teotihuacán, followed by a guided tour of the site
- Celebrate Dia de Los Muertos with parades and altar displays across the city
- Farewell Dinner to cap off the adventure

- Travel Insurance: Emergency medical and repatriation insurance with a minimum of $200,000 coverage is required. Trip cancellation insurance is recommended.
- Optional Activities: Costs for activities not included in the itinerary, such as the hot air balloon ride over Teotihuacán.
- Meals: Costs for meals not specified in the itinerary, including some lunches and dinners.
- Personal Expenses: Souvenirs, non-tour-related items, and personal purchases.
- Tour Guide Tips: Gratuities for the host and guides are not included. A suggested amount of $10 per day for guides is customary but can be adjusted based on service quality.

8/25: Hotel Upgrade Announcement 🏨✨
We’re excited to share that our accommodations in Mexico City (Oct 30 – Nov 2, plus any post-nights) have been upgraded to the Novotel Mexico City Centro Histórico. This beautiful property is located right in the heart of the historic center, offering a stylish and convenient base for exploring the city. From here, it’s just ~15 minutes to Zona Rosa, ~20 minutes to El Ángel de la Independencia, and ~30 minutes to the National Museum of Anthropology. We’re thrilled to end our journey in such a great spot!
Flights:
Please arrange your flights to arrive in Oaxaca (OAX – Oaxaca International Airport) on or before Sunday, October 26th, allowing time to settle in before our evening welcome meeting and dinner at 6pm.
For your return, we recommend departing from Mexico City (MEX – Mexico City International Airport) on Sunday, November 2nd, in the early to late afternoon or evening to allow time to fully enjoy the Dia de Los Muertos festivities.
Travelers are responsible for booking their own flights, but if you need assistance or have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us!
Travel Insurance
We suggest TravelEX Insurance Services – Click here for a quote. Travel insurance is mandatory. You must provide proof of insurance to join the group. The policy should include medical coverage and at least USD 200,000 for repatriation and emergency rescue. We also recommend coverage for personal liability, cancellation, curtailment, and loss of luggage and personal effects. Most insurance companies require policies to be purchased within 15 day of initial payment of the trip for full coverage/cancellation insurance. Please send proof of travel insurance to chris@prideat.com once you have purchased it, and I will save it within your departure details.
