CGA's Hawaiian Wellness & Adventure Retreat
Join us for a 5-day LGBTQ+ Wellness & Adventure Retreat over Memorial Day Weekend on Maui’s lush north shore, hosted by California Gay Adventures (CGA) & Pride Adventures.
Each day we’ll balance wellness practices — from yoga in the jungle studio and restorative sound baths to breathwork and mindfulness — with island adventures like the legendary Road to Hana, snorkeling with sea turtles, and watching the sun set above the clouds at Haleakalā. This is a holiday weekend of Hawaiian magic, designed for healing, exploration, and community connection.
Restore, Explore, and Connect in Maui
Experience Maui’s aloha through wellness and adventure. Our home is Hale Akua, a private eco-sanctuary perched on ocean cliffs, complete with hot tubs, saltwater pool, gardens, and jungle trails.
Mornings begin with yoga or meditation. Days open into possibilities: hike to jungle waterfalls, stretch into a breathwork session, relax by the pool, or join a community meal prepared with Hawaiian-inspired flavors. Evenings bring sound baths, sunset circles, and time to connect under the stars.
Choose your pace — dive deep into wellness practices, adventure across the island, or simply rest into Maui’s natural rhythms. With chef-prepared meals, community support, and time for renewal, this retreat is designed to restore your energy, inspire your spirit, and reconnect you with yourself and others. Limited to just 28 guests, it’s the perfect blend of wellness, adventure, and connection.

Chris serves as Founder | Chief Adventure Officer at Pride Adventures, shaping the vision behind each journey and bringing people together through thoughtfully designed travel experiences around the world.
Chris Smith - Los Angeles, CA Bio
Chris has been leading group trips and outdoor adventures for more than 25 years, with roots that trace back to growing up in Arizona as the middle of seven children in an outdoor-loving family. That early connection to the outdoors and to shared experiences shaped his approach to travel and community from the very beginning.
Before founding Pride Adventures, Chris helped build California Gay Adventures (CGA), creating space for LGBTQ+ people to connect through hiking, camping, and shared outdoor experiences. Over time, that community-first foundation expanded into broader group travel, while staying true to the same values of connection, inclusion, and fun.
Today, Chris focuses on shaping the experiences behind Pride Adventures trips and supporting the hosts and partners who help bring them to life. He believes the best journeys are the ones where people feel welcomed, supported, and connected long after the trip ends.
Itinerary Overview
Our Hawaiian Weekend Getaway is designed to immerse us in wellness and adventure, while keeping things flexible. Each morning we’ll have the option to gather for yoga, breathwork, or mindfulness in Hale Akua’s jungle studio — but if that’s not your thing, that’s perfectly fine. There will always be plenty of other ways to enjoy Maui, from poolside relaxation to morning beach walks.
Over five unforgettable days, we’ll restore our energy with sound baths, meditation, and quiet time in nature, while also exploring the island’s beauty: the legendary Road to Hana, the awe of Haleakalā at sunset, and the vibrant reefs of Molokini Crater.
This is more than a retreat — it’s a celebration of wellness, adventure, and community connection. Every detail is planned so we can relax into the experience: chef-prepared meals, shared adventures, and space to recharge together.
🌺 Day 1: Friday, May 22 – Arrival & Aloha Welcome
Arrive at Hale Akua Retreat Center, our private eco-sanctuary perched on the cliffs above the Pacific. Take time to explore the lush gardens, saltwater pool, and hot tubs before settling into your room. In the evening, we’ll gather for a chef-prepared Welcome Dinner, followed by an intention-setting circle in the jungle studio. End your first night soaking in the hot tubs under Maui’s star-filled skies.
📍 Stay: Hale Akua Retreat Center (all nights)

🌴 Day 2: Saturday, May 23 – Road to Hana & Evening Sound Bath
Start the day with morning yoga in the jungle studio. After breakfast, embark on the legendary Road to Hana, winding through lush rainforest, stopping at waterfalls, swimming holes, and the black sand beach at Waiʻānapanapa. After a day of adventure, return to Hale Akua for dinner and a transformative Sound Bath Experience — letting crystal bowls and chimes carry you into deep relaxation.

🌊 Day 3: Sunday, May 24 – Breathwork, Renewal & Haleakalā Sunset
Begin with a powerful guided breathwork session and a nourishing breakfast. The day is yours to shape: relax in Hale Akua’s pool and gardens, book a massage in the temple, or opt for extra adventures like ziplining or biking. In the afternoon, regroup for yoga before ascending to Haleakalā Crater to watch the sun set above the clouds — a sacred and unforgettable experience. A picnic-style dinner will be shared on the mountain.

🐢 Day 4: Monday, May 25 – Ocean Adventure & Closing Circle
Ease into the day with morning yoga before heading out for an ocean adventure. Choose between snorkeling at Molokini Crater & Turtle Town (advance booking required) or enjoying a beach day at Big Beach and Little Beach (clothing optional). In the afternoon, we’ll gather for a heartfelt closing circle in the jungle studio, then come together for our final celebratory dinner.

🌞 Day 5: Tuesday, May 26 – Departure with Aloha
Savor a light breakfast and a final morning soaking in Hale Akua’s views. Group vans depart for the airport at 11am (please book flights after 1pm if possible). Guests with earlier flights can arrange taxi/Uber. Depart with new friendships, restored energy, and the aloha spirit carried home.
