Venice to Rome | Sept 28 – Oct 11, 2025
Explore Italy with Pride Adventure Travel on this 14-day National Geographic-certified journey designed for LGBTQ+ travelers. From the canals of Venice to the cliffside villages of Cinque Terre, Tuscany’s artistic treasures to the lemon groves of the Amalfi Coast, and the historic grandeur of Rome — this adventure blends culture, cuisine, and community in unforgettable ways.
🛶 Venice – Days 1–2: Arrival & Venetian Charm
Begin your adventure in the magical city of Venice, where centuries-old canals and stunning architecture set the stage for connection and discovery. After settling in, you’ll gather with your fellow travelers for a Welcome Dinner overlooking the water. The next day includes an orientation walk through the city’s markets and hidden alleyways. You’ll also have time to explore independently or join optional activities like a gondola ride, a visit to the Doge’s Palace, or a boat trip to Murano and Burano.

🌊 Cinque Terre – Day 3: Seaside Beauty on the Italian Riviera
Travel by private coach and local train to the sun-drenched Ligurian coast and the stunning Cinque Terre. Spend the afternoon wandering through Monterosso al Mare or catching breathtaking views of the Mediterranean. Whether you’re hiking scenic trails or sampling local seafood, this is a day to soak up the coastal beauty at your own pace.

🏛️ Florence – Days 4–6: Tuscan Treasures & Renaissance Wonders
Next, we head into the heart of Tuscany and settle into Florence, the cradle of the Renaissance. Enjoy a guided orientation walk and a traditional aperitivo to kick off your stay. Over the next two days, you’ll have time to explore the Duomo, the Uffizi Gallery, and Michelangelo’s David at the Accademia. You can also opt for day trips to Pisa or Lucca — we’re working on group reservations to help with advance access.

🍕 Naples – Day 7: Pizza, Passion & Southern History
Hop aboard a high-speed train to Naples, the birthplace of pizza and one of Italy’s most vibrant cities. Enjoy a guided walk through the historic center of Spaccanapoli, then indulge in an authentic Neapolitan dinner with the group. The lively atmosphere and rich history of Naples provide a striking contrast to the calm of Tuscany.

🏺 Sorrento & Capri – Days 8–9: Ruins, Riviera & Island Escapes
On your way to Sorrento, you’ll explore the ancient ruins of Pompeii with a local archaeologist, diving deep into life in 79 AD. From your coastal home base in Sorrento, take a full-day excursion to the island of Capri, known for its dramatic cliffs and turquoise waters. Optional activities include a visit to the famous Blue Grotto and a boat tour around the island’s iconic rock formations.

🍋 Amalfi Coast – Days 10–11: Lemon Groves, Cliffside Trails & Local Flavor
Continue along the Amalfi Coast with a visit to a lemon farm, where you’ll learn how limoncello is made and enjoy a tasting. Afterward, we’ll share a locally sourced lunch at a family-run agriturismo set on a historic estate. The next day, hike the legendary Path of the Gods, winding high above the sea to Positano, where you’ll catch a ferry back to Amalfi. This stretch of the trip is all about fresh air, stunning views, and unforgettable flavors.

🏛️ Rome – Days 12–14: Icons, Farewells & Eternal Inspiration
Wrap up your Italian journey in the Eternal City. We’ll take an orientation walk through historic neighborhoods, followed by optional group tours to the Colosseum, Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, or Roman Forum. Enjoy time on your own to toss a coin into the Trevi Fountain or grab a final gelato before we gather for a celebratory Farewell Dinner. Depart the next day or extend your stay to dive even deeper into Rome’s endless history.

What's Included:
- Accommodations: Comfortable stays in locally owned and operated hotels or lodges (see the itinerary for the full list).
- Transportation: Van, bus, train, and boat transfers throughout the trip.
- Meals: 13 breakfasts, 1 lunch, and 4 dinners included.
- Adventure Activities: Daily tours and several optional activities as outlined in the itinerary.
- NatGeo Experiences: Special National Geographic-certified experiences, including a guided Pompeii tour by an archaeologist, a Capri tour, and the Path of the Gods hike on the Amalfi Coast.
- Activity/Meal Tips: Basic gratuities (approximately 10%) for included tours, guides, and group meals. Additional tips are optional.
What's Not Included:
- Flights: International flights to Venice and from Rome.
- Airport Transfers: Transfers to and from the airport are not included, but most group members will arrive on the same flights for coordinated transfers (by boat in Venice and by van or train in Rome).
- Travel Insurance: $200,000 in emergency medical and repatriation insurance is required. Trip cancellation insurance is recommended.
- Optional Activities: Costs for activities not mentioned in the itinerary or listed as optional. Polling for optional activities will be conducted closer to the trip.
- Meals: Costs for meals not specified in the itinerary, including most lunches and dinners.
- Personal Expenses: Souvenirs, non-tour-related expenses, and personal purchases.
- Activity/Meal Tips: Additional tips for meals or activities beyond what is included.
- Tour Guide Tips: Gratuities for the host and guides are not included. A suggested tip of $10 per day for guides is customary, adjusted based on service level.
Physical Rating, Comfort, and Adventure:
Physical Rating: 2 - Light
This trip is suitable for most fitness levels, with light walking and hiking activities. Daily activities may include walking tours through city streets, exploring ancient ruins, or a gentle hike along the Amalfi Coast. While the trip is designed to be accessible, participants should be comfortable walking up to 3-4 miles per day on uneven terrain.
Service Level: Upgraded
Enjoy quality accommodations and more inclusions than standard or active adventure tours. You’ll stay in small, family-run hotels or pensions with rich character, central locations, and excellent amenities. While most properties are well-equipped, some may lack elevators or air-conditioning due to their historical nature, and carrying luggage up stairs may be necessary.

Adventure Updates
Update 12/16/2024: Pre & Post Night Hotel Update – We have been informed that the hotels in both Venice and Rome will have limited availability. Room requests are not guaranteed. Please request rooms in advance and we will work to secure these for you. If not able too, there are other hotels in the area that can be booked. Contact chris@prideat.com.

6/7: We will be sending out a poll on optional activity options for Florence and Rome approx. 90 days before trip.
Flights:
Arrive anytime on Sunday, Sept 28. Depart anytime on Saturday, Oct 11. See joining instructions in the trip dossier. We will also share ths information closer to the trip dates. Please let us know if you require pre or post-trip accommodations.
Travel Insurance:
We suggest TravelEX Insurance Services – Click here for a quote. Travel insurance is mandatory. You must provide proof of insurance to join the group. The policy should include medical coverage and at least USD 200,000 for repatriation and emergency rescue. We also recommend coverage for personal liability, cancellation, curtailment, and loss of luggage and personal effects. Most insurance companies require policies to be purchased within 15 day of initial payment of the trip for full coverage/cancellation insurance. Please send proof of travel insurance to chris@prideat.com once you have purchased it, and I will save it within your departure details.
