After five days of exploring, the entire group will reunite in La Fortuna to relax in natural hot springs, enjoy breathtaking views of the Arenal Volcano, and take part in thrilling adventures. Enjoy thoughtfully planned meals throughout your trip, including fresh, local cuisine at each destination. Meals are included during your stay at Drake Bay Wilderness Lodge, featuring farm-to-table dining, while other segments offer delicious group meals and time to discover local restaurants on your own. Once you select your segment and room preference, you’ll receive a list of activities to choose from for your 3 included adventures in La Fortuna—ranging from zip-lining and ATV rides to whitewater rafting and serene nature tours.

Kevin will be the Pride Adventure Travel Host for the Manuel Antonio portion of our trip. Kevin has experience traveling around the world, including throughout Costa Rica. While Kevin does not speak Spanish, he will be accompanied by Annika’s husband Daniel, who will be our local Costa Rican guide, which will be very nice to have for the trip.

My expertise lies in designing custom tours, curating private travel, and catering to the luxury needs of our clients, ranging from corporate to adventure and production travel. For this trip, I’m especially thrilled to guide you through the stunning region of Manuel Antonio, ensuring every aspect is perfectly planned and executed.

In the past, I have spent time exploring various beautiful locations in Costa Rica, including San Jose, the Santa Rosa area near the Pacific Ocean and the Nicaragua border, Tamarindo, Monteverde Cloud Forest, and Arenal Volcano. These experiences have deepened my appreciation for Costa Rica’s natural beauty and rich culture, and I’m eager to share this with you.

Our Itineraries:

Our itinerary is divided into segments to offer flexibility and personalized experiences. You’ll start in San José with the full group, then choose between two distinct adventures: Manuel Antonio or Drake Bay. Each segment has its own detailed itinerary, highlighting activities and included experiences.

After your chosen segment, the entire group reunites in La Fortuna for shared adventures and relaxation. This format allows you to tailor your trip while still enjoying group camaraderie and the highlights of Costa Rica!

Day 1: Arrival in San José

  • Arrive at Juan Santamaría International Airport.
  • Group welcome dinner and orientation at Adventure Inn.

Days 2–6: Choose Your Adventure

  • Manuel Antonio Segment: Explore vibrant beaches, hike through Manuel Antonio National Park, and enjoy a sunset snorkel cruise. Optional activities include surfing and shopping. *Check below for more information
  • Drake Bay Segment: Immerse yourself in the untouched wilderness of the Osa Peninsula. Enjoy a guided Corcovado National Park hike, snorkeling at Isla Caño, and optional activities like zip-lining and mangrove tours. *Check below for more information

Day 6: Group Reunion in La Fortuna

  • Reunite with the full group at a hot springs hotel near Arenal Volcano.

Days 7–9: Adventure in La Fortuna

  • Choose 3 included activities: zip-lining, ATV rides, whitewater rafting, guided nature tours, or more.
  • Evening relaxation in the hot springs with group dinners.

Day 10: Farewell and Departure

  • Breakfast and group transfers to Juan Santamaría International Airport for departure.

Trip Segments

The adventure starts in San José, where the group will divide into two exciting segments. One group will explore the stunning Manuel Antonio area, while the other journeys to the remote Osa Peninsula to experience the wonders of Drake Bay. After these unique adventures, both groups will reunite in La Fortuna, staying at a special hot springs hotel nestled at the base of the majestic Arenal Volcano. Day 1: April 19th

  • San Jose
  • Accommodation: Adventure Inn (or similar)
  • Activities: Arrival in San Jose, shuttle transfer to Adventure Inn Hotel, unwind by the pool, enjoy hotel amenities, or explore the city. Evening welcome group dinner.

 

Day 2-5: April 20th – 24th

  • Manuel Antonio
  • Accommodation: Hotel EcoTica (or similar)
  • Activities:
    • Day 2: Travel to Manuel Antonio. After checking in, head to the beach to enjoy a sunset over the Pacific Ocean.
    • Day 3: Guided walk in Manuel Antonio National Park, known for its rich biodiversity, including monkeys, sloths, and various bird species. Spend the rest of the day relaxing on the park’s beaches or exploring on your own.
    • Day 4: Free day to choose optional activities such as surfing, visiting local shops, booking a massage, or simply relaxing at the hotel.
    • Day 5: Sunset Snorkel Dinner Cruise, offering spectacular views, snorkeling opportunities, and a relaxing evening meal on the water.

Day 6-9: April 24th – 27th

  • La Fortuna
  • Accommodation: Hotel Arenal Springs (or similar)
  • Activities:
    • Day 6: Travel from Manuel Antonio to La Fortuna. Settle into the hotel, relax in the hot springs, and join the group for a dinner at the hotel.
    • Day 7-8: Choose daily activities such as zip-lining through the rainforest, hiking near Arenal Volcano, white-water rafting, or taking a cooking class. In the evenings, relax in the hotel’s hot spring pools and enjoy meals at the hotel or in town.
    • Day 9: Free morning to choose another activity or relax at the hotel. After lunch, enjoy a natural hot spring soak at El Choin, a hot spring river surrounded by rainforest. Final group dinner in the evening.

Day 10: April 28th

  • La Fortuna to San Jose
  • Accommodation: Evening Depatures or Adventure Inn (or similar)
  • Activities: After breakfast and actvity we will transfer back to San Jose. Option to stay the night at Adventure Inn or depart for the airport (book flights after 5pm)

Optional Day 11: April 29th

  • San Jose
  • Accommodation: Adventure Inn (or similar)
  • Activities: For those who wish to fly out a day later, additional time to relax or explore San Jose.

Drake Bay Segment

Day 1: April 19th

  • San Jose
  • Accommodation: Adventure Inn (or similar)
  • Activities: Arrival in San Jose, shuttle transfer to Adventure Inn Hotel, unwind by the pool, enjoy hotel amenities, or explore the city. Evening welcome group dinner.

Day 2-5: April 20th – 24th

  • Drakes Bay
  • Accommodation: Drakes Bay Wilderness Lodge (or similar)
  • Activities:
    • Day 2: Travel to Drakes Bay. This will be a long travel day due to the remoteness of the destination, but it offers the chance to immerse yourself in a nature lover’s paradise. After arriving, settle into the lodge and enjoy the natural surroundings.
    • Day 3: Guided walk in Corcovado National Park, one of the most biologically intense places on Earth. Explore pristine rainforests and spot rare wildlife, including jaguars, tapirs, and scarlet macaws.
    • Day 4: Choose one included activity such as zip-lining through the rainforest, a nighttime bug tour, a mangrove tour by boat, or a waterfall hike. Each option provides a unique perspective on the region’s rich biodiversity.
    • Day 5: Snorkel tour at Isla Caño, known for its crystal-clear waters and vibrant marine life, including dolphins, sea turtles, and a variety of tropical fish. In the afternoon, prepare to travel to La Fortuna.

Day 6-9: April 24th – 27th

  • La Fortuna
  • Accommodation: Hotel Arenal Springs (or similar)
  • Activities:
    • Day 6: Travel from Drakes Bay to La Fortuna. Upon arrival, settle into the hotel, relax in the hot springs, and join the group for a dinner at the hotel.
    • Day 7-8: Choose daily activities such as zip-lining through the rainforest, hiking near Arenal Volcano, white-water rafting, or taking a cooking class. In the evenings, unwind in the hotel’s hot spring pools and enjoy meals at the hotel or in town.
    • Day 9: Free morning to select another activity or relax at the hotel. After lunch, visit El Choin for a natural hot spring soak in a river surrounded by lush rainforest. Conclude the day with a final group dinner.

Day 10: April 28th

  • La Fortuna to San Jose
  • Accommodation: Evening Depatures or Adventure Inn (or similar)
  • Activities: After breakfast and actvity we will transfer back to San Jose. Option to stay the night at Adventure Inn or depart for the airport (book flights after 5pm)
